Two categories apply: Developer fitted or Retro-fitted
Developer fitted: The price of the reclaimed water pipe installation is incorporated in the sale of your home and you will only be required to fund after application to the County the hookup process from the pink/purple box to the shut-off valve located alongside your home. After this connection you will receive a monthly billing from the Hillsborough County Water Department reflecting a $9/month flat rate fee which pays for unlimited reclaimed water usage to irrigate your lawn and landscaping, wash your car and or pressure wash your driveway/walkways and sidewalks (contingent that you order the connection when making application).
Retro fitted: Many homes had to be retro-fitted with reclaimed water and this was completed in June of 2002. These homes will receive an assessment charge line item on their Annual Property Tax Billing from the County and this charge will repeat annually for 20 years. Most of the homes that were retro-fitted have applied and are enjoying reclaimed water at the flat rate of $9/m.
The application package that you will receive will list some vendors, although not obligated to use, to perform the task of hooking up the pink/purple box to your shut-off valve located alongside your home. This must be performed by a licensed plumber or irrigation specialist and a permit is required.
